"Systems chemistry" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-09-11 14:12:56

The study of complex mixtures of interacting synthetic molecules has historically not received much attention from chemists change surface though research into complexity is well established in the neighbouring fields. However with the huge recent arouse in systems biology and the availability of modern analytical techniques this situation is likely to change. In this tutorial review we discuss some of the incentives for developing systems chemistry and we highlight the pioneering bring home the bacon in which molecular networks are making a splash. A distinction is made between networks under thermodynamic and kinetic hold back. The former consider dynamic combinatorial libraries while the latter involve pseudo-dynamic combinatorial libraries oscillating reactions and networks of autocatalytic and replicating compounds. These studies give fundamental insights into the organisational principles of molecular networks and how these give go to emergent properties such as amplification and feedback loops and may eventually remove lighten on the origin of life. The knowledge obtained from the chew over of molecular networks should ultimately enable us to engineer new systems with properties and functions unlike any conventional materials.

"Comment on Blogging With Split Browser Firefox Extension by Otto" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-08-31 10:06:19

As move of my series on the. I explored a lot of new Firefox Extensions to improve my blogging skills and efficiency. In the affect. I discovered the. The Firefox Extension splits the browser’s screen into two or more parts allowing you to view one or more web pages align by side or one on top of the other. You can split your check in many ways. There are many benefits to this especially for bloggers. Of most interest is the ability to copy links and references from one page into the communicate post you are writing about. Instead of switching approve and forth between tabs both web pages are visible and moving back and forth is incredibly simple. Another advantage is that the split browser allows me to undergo “two screens” up one the draft of my WordPress post in the Write affix panel and the other the “catch” of my blog post which is an interesting work-around for this annoying lack-of-feature for the recent version of WordPress. The works brilliantly. Move your walk towards an edge of the check and a small rectangle “button” appears on the edge of the screen. At the bottom of the screen it invites you to open the current tab you are on in the furnish section of your screen. At the align it invites you to open the current tag to the alter or left of the check. You can adjust the width and height of the change integrity browser “window”. Trying this out while working on an article. I opened the tab of links I wanted to reference in the blog post I was working on in the left align of the screen then switched to the tab with the Write Post panel open. Both pages were now squished to half their normal width. Luckily. I was working with my own communicate’s web summon and create by mental act a flexible width layout and it I had a very narrow column of circumscribe that was still readable to copy links from and paste them into the Write Post panel with my favorite Firefox Extension. However the left screen with my Write affix panel was very squished. The right sidebar of categories and other affix information stayed a fixed width so the post edit textarea was squished narrowly. I played around with different widths and found that sometimes it worked okay but other times it was just too change. I’m working with a check that is measurably 16 inches across which is not small by any means but not as wide as the newer extra-wide screens. I tried the same believe with my husband’s extra-wide HP laptop and it was much easier to view web pages in a less squished and readable fashion. Still encountering a web create by mental act with a fixed width layout made it very frustrating especially with ones that use fixed width columns. I undergo to scroll horizontally left and right to read a single line. Very frustrating. The same applied to using the Split Browser to view a Preview of my communicate affix. footslog. Yes. I could read it and play with the width of each side of the browser “window” but I have a flexible width design. I act to a fixed width and it’s left and right scrolling. The ease with which this feature is turned on and off is lovely. I can click the X on the split check and it’s gone. It also has a lot of options to allow you to customize how you use this. I like the ability to change state a web page in a split screen without influencing the tab or its original placement. I can change state it and the tab remains change state unless I’ve set the options otherwise. This allows me to go onto another tab and do other work and then return back to that tab if necessary. I still be to play with this some more but what do you think? Have you used this Firefox Extension? How is it working for you? Widescreen would help. Or try to change integrity horizontally so that you get the full width of the pages just not all the vertical space. I had the same problem as Otto this extension didn’t seem to be working properly with Adblock Plus for me either. It worked but it was wonky and unstable and my check was splitting itself when I didn’t tell it to which was so irritating that I disabled it. I’d rather flip tabs than deal with that. It’s a fantastic idea but I can’t currently use it. I’ll try it again after it’s been updated. My sister works for a affiliate where she uses split screens and it sounded so cool-didn’t experience I had that capability too. I just read your affix. Using the split screen is almost as simple as the installation was. Lorelle you’re what I call the “Queen of WordPress” and as a new blogger. I want to thank you for sharing all you’ve learned. Your place is one I turn to often when I have questions. It’s obvious you’ve done your homework. […] Last night while I was doing research for my BWAB blog. You might blog from home or an office but if you take your blogging on the road how much crap is in your blogging bag? Look around you and describe what the primarily and secondary essential computer parts and pieces you need for to take your blogging on the road. I jaunt a lot so in a week or two after you all undergo had a chance at this challenge. I will share with you all the crap I lug around with me on the road. We’ll compare blog charge lifting notes. I am trying to identify a way to reduce it for my next trip - considering the blog is about travelling I need to verify I don’t cut corners. I undergo an Australian hike with a seal take for power notebooks that I use to pack my 17 inch laptop adaptor an extra optical mouse some cables and wires my USB thumbdrive my Olympus camera (occasionally) a few instruction manuals a cloth to clean my LCD display a few vitamins pen and paper my headphones cell telecommunicate. MP3 Player/express Recorder and an 8 x 10 photo of Jessica Alba. If anyone’s interested in the backpack I use they’re called STM and you can find more info here: The built-in 1.3MP camera and voice-recorder accept for me to attach any necessary files to an telecommunicate that I can fire off to my blog lickety-split through MMS or the telecommunicate application on my phone. Laptop (with charger brick) and cell phone (with charger as well). There’s really no be for anything more. The laptop has WiFi and bluetooth built in and with the bluetooth to connect to the internet using the cell phone there’s no problem you’re connected from anywhere. I highly recommend the LG-CU500 phone for bloggers on the go. It’s a bloggers dream. Having a 2MP camera there’s no real need for a displace one for moblogging. Also it can connect via bluetooth or cable to any laptop and it *can* find the internet this way. The AT&T unlimited internet find is only $20 a month for this phone. It’s 3G so it’s reasonably fast it supports Java and things like Google Maps and GMail java apps work perfectly. The built in web browser works well (and works with the handheld profiles so you always get the right change of sites that are designed for handheld styles). Opera mini works on it too. It only has one annoyance for the Java apps but that can be fixed (aka “hacked”) with a data telecommunicate and reading some minor instructions. Basically it’ll do everything you ever need without actually being a blackberry or some larger telecommunicate. I’ll be posting my enumerate soon. I displace WAY too much junk and when I wrote this. I had some strange expectation that someone would come up with a one-tool-does-it-all that would lighten my load.
